Mintoo, a home-grown digital collectibles marketplace, has partnered with Philippine Digital Asset Exchange (PDAX), one of the country’s leading digital asset exchanges, to launch its debut digital art collection for its Artist Series dubbed as “New Horizons” that featured thoughtfully-curated digital art masterpieces made by established and emerging Filipino NFT artists.
Mintoo’s Artist Series collections aim to boost the Filipino digital art scene by providing a platform for visual artists, creators, and art enthusiasts to buy, sell, and trade digital collectibles conveniently through their Mintoo account, exclusively available on the PDAX platform.
“As a cryptocurrency exchange, we’re always looking for ways to innovate and provide our users with new and exciting opportunities. Having Mintoo on the PDAX app will expand our offerings to include digital collectibles and provide Filipinos with the tools and resources they need to participate in this market,” PDAX chief executive officer Nichel Gaba said.
“This is something which is very timely since we believe that this new technology is on the verge of revolutionizing the way we think about ownership and value,” Gaba said.
The collection showcases a diverse range of artistic mediums, from illustrators and traditional painters to collage artists and 3D modelers, namely Alchemyst, Marv del Mundo, Lucius Felimus, Gian Ferrer, Auggie Fontanilla, Ab Hong, Marso, Lei Melendres, Shelly Soneja and Tonstee.
During the recent launch, the artists—many of whom have been featured in local and international galleries—took turns explaining their journey into digital art and how they expect the space expand and create more opportunities for both artists and collectors.
“Mintoo is paving the way for Filipino artists to enter the NFT industry. The platform offers a highly localized experience that connects collectors with unique and valuable digital collectibles from local creators,” Patrick Lao, Director of Mintoo, said.
“By providing a space for Filipino artists to showcase their talent, Mintoo is not only breaking the barriers for the local NFT scene, but also challenging the negative stereotypes associated with Filipino NFTs, and carving a new perspective that places the Philippines as a respectable player in the global art market,” he said.
Mintoo users will be able to purchase digital collectibles directly with Philippine pesos, while artists can now easily launch their own collections through powerful and easy-to-use tools, without having to understand the complexities of blockchain technology.
The collection is publicly available for purchase. Collectors will be able to access Mintoo and the collection by downloading the PDAX App on Google Play Store, Huawei App Gallery, and App Store (coming soon) or visiting the Mintoo website at https://mintoo.pdax.ph/.
