The Philippines has emerged as one of the top three countries playing the newly launched web3 game PixelPals, as its growing prize pool for season zero reaches USD $193,945, as of April 22, 2024.

Recognized as one of the strongest countries when it comes to web3 gaming adoption, Filipino gamers are one of the most active in the PixelPals community, engaging with others and encouraging more people to join the game. As season zero draws to a conclusion, the developers, Pixelmon, plan to distribute the prizes to all players who participated. The amount distributed to each player will depend on their game progression points. It is expected that the prize pool will break above $200,000 by the season’s end on April 29, 2024.

PixelPals Season 0 will officially come to an end on 29 April 2024 at UTC 23:59

To date, there are more than 76,000 players from the Philippines, ranking third overall among 212 countries. They trail only behind the United States in second place and Vietnam in first place, with the former having over 146,000 players and the latter with over 214,000. Other countries among the top 10 users include Indonesia, India, Japan, Brazil, Nigeria, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

PixelPals has been growing at a fast rate since its launch. The Pixelmon team reported 480,000 unique wallets registered to PixelPals and over 100,000 daily active players in the last two weeks. 120,000 of the total player base have been logging in for at least seven days in a row.

“I love playing PixelPals. It’s fun, easy to play, and doesn’t take a lot of time,” said Filipino content creator Sir Alvon, who lives in Parañaque, Metro Manila, and has been publishing helpful guides on Tiktok about how to play the game. “You can play it while commuting or when you’re taking a break from work. The game is just starting, and participating now gives players a chance to be included in an upcoming airdrop. I think it’s going to get even better in future seasons.”

Described as a hypercasual pet and base management game, PixelPals has players taking care of a titular creature, making sure they are fed and growing in XP. While doing so, players will also manage their habitat, which they can decorate to increase its Habitat Value. At the end of the season, their efforts in improving their habitat will lead to MON token rewards following the upcoming Mon Protocol token generation event (TGE).

The game is available on both mobile and desktop. Players can use a Moca ID to sign up or head directly to the PixelPals website to create a web3 wallet account by registering an everyday login credential such as a Google account or email address. Since its launch, players have been optimistic about the game’s direction, mainly due to an active development team striving to improve the game and add in features the community wants.

The Philippines has historically made a significant impact on newly launched web3 games. Filipinos were at the forefront of the Axie Infinity boom and also make up a significant part of the population of the farming game Pixels. PixelPals is one of the latest web3 games gaining attention in the country, signifying a positive direction for the game. The PixelPals team plans to use this momentum as it prepares for improvements in the coming months.

With season zero nearing its end, the development team has been working hard to add more content for players to enjoy. Season one will introduce a turn-based card battle system within PixelPals, where players can collect different PixelCards and battle to win MON. Winnings from season zero can be used to buy PixelCards in season one. Following season one, development for future seasons is also underway.
