Olympus acceleration platform opens global launchpad for Filipino Web3...

The DFINITY Foundation (DFINITY), a Swiss not-for-profit research and development organization and key contributor to the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) blockchain, has announced the launch of the Olympus, the first decentralized, on-chain global acceleration platform.

This week, innovators, industry leaders, and regulators will be coming together for the 3rd annual KPMG R. G. Manabat & Co.’s Innovation Summit, titled “Making it happen: From innovative ideas to execution.” Among the many speakers joining the panel rosters are Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary David Almirol and Department of Budget and Management Undersecretary Maria Francesca Del Rosario, to speak on the future of digital governance and smart cities.

Live streamed from the Fairmont Makati on July 20, the summit will kick off with keynote speaker Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte. At the event, KPMG R.G. Manabat and Co. will launch the Digital Government Center, which aims to guide the national and local government in their journeys toward digital transformation. This program is part of KPMG in the Philippines’ drive to help civil workers create and strategize automation services and harness emerging technologies to provide citizens with efficient, practical solutions. This will also be a resource for training and certifications for civil servants to upgrade their proficiency in technology-related skills.

Among the summit’s many panels is a deep dive into smart cities, exploring how cities of the future can apply information and communication technologies to design more livable, sustainable cities for citizens. These span innovations in circular economy, mobility, and improved infrastructure and service to help reduce carbon footprints.

Just as industry leaders and public sector offices play a crucial role in shaping the future of our nation, innovative startups offer new ideas and fresh perspectives that, once embraced, can result in real gamechangers for our day-to-day lives. This year’s Innovation Summit 2023 will see the launch of the KPMG Global Technology Innovator competition. Top three contenders Peddlr, Prosperna, and Packworks will be competing at this week’s Innovation Summit 2023 for the title of national winner. The official startup to win the local finals will move on to represent the Philippines and go head to head with tech startups from over 25 countries around the globe at the international competition leg in Lisbon, Portugal in November.

“Disruptors play a crucial role in driving financial due diligence and strategic decision-making across a diversity of sectors such as financial, industrial, retail, and healthcare,” said KPMG R.G. Manabat & Co. Michael Guarin, “By embracing disruption, we can unlock new avenues for success, transform business models, and stay ahead of rapidly changing market dynamics.” Joining Guarin for a panel discussion on game changers in tech are the leading innovators behind Igloo, Fuse Lending, Alliance of Tech Innovators (ATIN), DBDOYC Inc (Angkas) and Mayani.

Engage in panel discussions with industry leaders on redefining smart cities, ESG tech, the next wave of automation, and the current innovations and technologies that are upending traditional industries at the KPMG Innovation Summit 2023.
