In line with the Web3 community’s ethos of decentralized empowerment, CoinEx Charity has taken another step in improving the educational landscape for underprivileged students in the Philippines. On August 21, 2023, the philanthropic arm of the global cryptocurrency exchange CoinEx, donated essential school supplies to 100 students at Bacoor National High School in Cavite Province, Philippines.

Founded in December 2017, CoinEx is a leading cryptocurrency exchange with a mission to make the world a better place through blockchain technology. CoinEx Charity, established in 2022, is the humanitarian extension of CoinEx. It focuses on human development, education, and poverty alleviation, among other causes. With a multi-million-dollar charity fund, CoinEx Charity has already made its mark in various countries, including Nigeria, Belarus, and the Philippines.

More than just supplies

The donation included not just notebooks, pencils, and daily necessity kits but also paint and cement for school maintenance. While the tangible items meet the immediate needs, the infrastructural materials aim to create a conducive learning environment, thereby enhancing the students’ academic experience and motivation.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, over 22 million people in the country live below the poverty line, with 35% being children and teenagers. Established in 2003, Bacoor National High School provides free education to students who come from diverse and often challenging backgrounds. According to school officials who welcomed CoinEx Charity last week, this donation is more than just supplies; it’s an investment in the future of their students’ young minds.

Blockchain for good

During the donation event, the CoinEx Charity team personally handed over the supplies to each student, encouraging them to embrace knowledge and face future challenges with renewed vigor. The event also served as a platform to showcase how blockchain can be effectively used for social good.

Focusing on addressing the pressing needs of grassroots communities, CoinEx Charity is a concrete extension of parent company CoinEx’s mission of “Via Blockchain, Making the World a Better Place”. As part of its ongoing “Grant for Fulfilling Dreams” program, CoinEx Charity plans to extend its philanthropic activities to other countries, including Turkey, Africa, and Bangladesh. The initiative in the Philippines is a stepping stone in a series of global efforts aimed at empowering disadvantaged students worldwide.
