This is not a financial advise. This is a story of one RON maxi who got an allowlist, used his 50 RON, minted his Kaidro Chronicle Spark Suit, and immediately sold it for 5000 RON on the same day! How did this happen? Let’s look at this dreamy turn of events.
The Kaidro Chronicle Spark Suits
It all started when Kaidro Chronicle, a Web3 project with roots in game development, announced their upcoming collection called Spark Suits in this post. It garnered a total of 739K views as of this writing and the announcement had mixed reactions. The majority of people in the space expressed excitement, while others who have been spoon-fed free mints have complained of the 50 RON minting fee. It was originally scheduled at April 4 to be launched at the Mavis Marketplace but was later postponed to April 9.
Allowlist Allocations
There were three phases of the mint: one for the team, one for the Allowlist, and one for public sale. An allowlist is essentially like a private presale for VIP’s or for people who completed certain tasks or met certain requirements. It’s basically like skipping the line for the public launch or getting first dibs on items as a collector.
If you were a hardcore degen, you would definitely want to be in the Allowlist as Kaidro Chronicle also announced that there would be a bunch of 1/1’s in the collection and that accounts for a higher price due to their rarity.
There were different ways to get into the allowlist like creator giveaways and ones like what Nix Eniego of Sky Mavis had for the Ronin Network Philippines Community. Somehow, our lucky winner probably got a whitelist and had to prepare their 50 RON for the momentous occasion.
You are probably wondering what the approximate value of RON is at that time and why 50 RON, though only double digits, actually amounts to a fair amount of money. At the time of mint, 50 RON is approximately USD$200 in price or P11,000.
Mint Day
The scheduled date, after being moved up, didn’t stop what the Ronin Community call the “Ronin Effect”, which basically means breaking every known platform through sheer volume of influx of users. This had some users somewhat turned off but after a few refreshes, you’ll be able to pick one of the three clans which are aptly named Grimbone, Bubblegum Violence, and Emerald Hand, which, at the end of the day, look orange, pink, and green, respectively, to me.
Upon minting, you’d get these appropriately-colored balls of mechs which upon reveal will show you the rarity of the Spark Suit you minted. One lucky minter had minted the 1/1 Grimbone Spark Suit and was offered by the one and only trungfinity, Sky Mavis CEO, for 5000 RON or more than P1M pesos (P1,042,850 to be exact at this time of writing).
These events that led to the amazing profit is definitely inspiring but it doesn’t happen in every project. We must warn Filipinos that crypto is risky and speculative and they must only invest what they are prepared to lose.
